Happy Artist Friends
Tell us a little about the origins of Joining Forces.
All of us have always been really into drawing, individually. Earlier this year, a couple of us tried drawing together on the same page. The results were really far out. It began a train of thought, ‘What if more people got involved? What would the results look like?’ We got a few arty friends together, drew for hours and had a great laugh. We took our ideas to a bigger scale and henceforth Joining Forces was formed.
Describe your creative process.
We work differently depending on the size of the project. Most commonly, we have a round robin drawing session, six people, six pieces of paper. We draw some elements then pass on the paper to the next person and we keep going till the drawings are done. Finally, we end up with six amazing works and a bunch of happy people.
What inspires you the most?
We all inspire each other. When we are working together, we can draw energy from one another, add ideas and build up themes. It’s quite entertaining and inspirational to work that way.
What are your ultimate dreams for Joining Forces?
To keep collaborating as a group and spread the message of Joining Forces. We have more projects in mind for the future.
But you did say ‘ultimate dream’, so… becoming the gods of non-sentient beings and flying around doing good. We would be responsible for every time you find $2 in the gutter and spread artistic joy and peace of mind to all creatures (especially fish, because they have a hard time).
What will we find from Joining Forces at our July Bend and Snap Market?
There will be some collaborative drawing and exquisite corpse fun for the public to take part in.
