Tell us a little about the origins of Golden Skull Candles.

Golden Skull Candles emerged from the smoke, like a flapper & her beau at 5am from a back alley speak easy mid 1920’s.

Describe your creative process.
The candles fragrances develop themselves in various ways, the current Limited Edition came to me in a dream like Jim Morrison in the desert (Wayne’s World II) after a late night of listening to a lot of Lana Del Rey, its a mix of absinthe, pink musk and vanilla, appropriately named Summertime Sadness.

What inspires you the most?
Stuck in a bygone era, I’m forever drawing inspiration from greatness past. True greats like Coco Chanel, Auguste Rodin, Louis Armstrong, Modigliani, and Walter Chrysler.

Name some of your most favourite local artists and designers.
Melbourne has a myriad of talented artists & designers that set the bar high for aspiring creators.
Lani Williams from Windfall Jewellery.
Stephanie from the Lovely Bones, she makes gorgeous decorated animal skulls.
Steen Jones and his awesome new brand Few and Far Collective.
Aaron Hingston is my tattoo artist who owns the Grand Illusion in Malvern, a truly talented artist.

What are your ultimate dreams for Golden Skull Candles?

From conception I required Golden Skull to be a cohesive brand, when you buy a Golden Skull Candle you’re buying so much more than the candle. The jars and Labels represent the essence of Golden Skull. I’m working with a friend of mine Tom Watson who has helped create the brand with me from the beginning, he’s a fantastic graphic designer who has been able to take my mess of ideas and make magic. Ultimately I plan on developing and expanding the brand into a wide range of products that fit within the brand values and aesthetic.
