Tell us a little about the origins of Ruby Louise.
I majored in Metalwork as part of my teaching degree at Melbourne University, and was always making jewellery as presents. After much encouragement from my husband and friends Ruby Louise was born in Feb 2010
Describe your creative process.
I never sketch, but go head first into creating new pieces and experimenting with different shapes, colours and ways of producing my polymer clay products. A lot of it is dreamed up in the middle of the night when I should be asleep!
What inspires you the most?
I’m inspired by vintage and the nature around me. I love pretty, girlie, ornately patterned things and am kind of obsessed with flowers, so they feature heavily in my work. I also love cute, little creatures and am always looking to add new ones to my collection.
Name some of your most favourite local artists and designers.
I cannot go past Zen Moments beautiful and fragrant soy candles. They are so addictive!
Pleasure Little Treasure for her beautiful fascinators.
What are your ultimate dreams for Ruby Louise?
I would love to run Ruby Louise full time one day and give up my day job. Will also be looking at getting some stockists next year once I’m finished part time study.
What will will we find from Ruby Louise at our Sunday 22nd December Bend and Snap Market?
At the December 22 market you will find lots of great presents including polymer clay necklaces, my resin earrings which are great stocking fillers and lots of vintage inspired and affordable jewellery.
