Tell us a little about the origins of Indovino Jewellery.
Melbourne based brand, Indovino Jewellery was founded by Vanessa Indovino in
November 2014 following a year immersed in travel and inspiration seeking in
South East Asia. Fusing a synthesis of passions for jewellery, art and travel,
Vanessa set out to create effortlessly wearable and chic designs, drawing
inspiration from mysticism, art, nature and fashion trends of the past and
present. Hailing from a creative Italian family of artists, chefs and
dressmakers, Vanessa brings a distinguished sense of style, individuality and
timelessness to the product aesthetic. Each piece is purposefully designed with
a high level of thoughtfulness and detail, and each crystal is carefully
hand-picked, ensuring every piece is truly ‘one of a kind’.
The product is hand-crafted from 92.5 sterling silver, 18ct gold plating &
adorned with semiprecious gemstones, sourced from around the world. The
properties of each gemstone are listed on the website so you can choose the
stone that resonates with you the most.
Indovino Jewellery aims to use art and jewellery to bring greater awareness to
the Water Crisis that is happening all over the world in Africa, South East Asia
and Latin America. A portion of every sale will be donated to Charity Water – a
charity dedicated to bringing clean water and sanitation to people in less
Describe your creative process.
The creative process always starts with the semiprecious gemstones, they are the
heart of each piece. I picked stones based on their formation, colour, internal
properties and whatever catches my eye instantly. I photograph regularly what I
see day to day from people to nature to objects. I research online to find out
what’s happening in different markets around the world. I then design around the
gemstone, working the metal design into the formation of the stone so it looks
as natural as possible. I try to create as much design variety between each
piece as possible to ensure I’m offering a unique and compelling product
What inspires you the most?
Nature’s natural formations and colours; Astrology; Raw and effortless street
style fashion from around the world; Vintage, classic and minimalist designs in
jewellery, fashion and decor; Photography, I’ve always loved the works of Helmut
Newton, Annie Leibovitz and Guy Bourdin.
What are your ultimate dreams for Indovino Jewellery?
To connect with and inspire people through jewellery and art worldwide.
To expand the Indovino Jewellery collection, continually improving and
innovating in quality and design.
To be able to make a tangible difference to important causes such as Charity
