Bend and Snap Market @ St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2016

Hello 2016! This year we will assembling a cool selection of Melbourne’s finest movers and makers for the upcoming St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Melbourne for a second year this Saturday 13th February. (peek at the blog post about our fabulous 2015 Melbourne Laneway Festival experience here).

Meet some of the superstars that you will find at our market space this year:

ARTOMIC Miscellaneous NecklacesWe started Artomic because there’s a problem with the way science is communicated. Basically when it’s not sounding like a different language, it’s coming across as bloody boring. So we decided to bring you science in a way you’ve never seen it before! First we enlisted the help of students across Australia. Then, with their permission, we plucked a series of research images from under their microscopes. Finally, we used those images to create a striking range of jewellery. Each piece comes with an info card detailing the research behind the design AND 30% of each & every purchase is donated back to science research! Check us out here! See you at Laneway! Daughters of Doom are a few odd humans who like to create something a bit off kilter…. “Our art is designed to create something a little bit different for you or your small human”. Once we have a drawing it is carved into lino to make a printing stamp. This process takes many precious hours to ensure the final design is correct, ready for print and everyone has their fingers still in tact. We print each design by hand onto our tshirts. Though the same stamp is used for each print run, the cutting & ink method ensures that each image always comes out a bit different from its twin. This is what makes D.O.D designs unique. And, because we don’t want people walking around looking the same; we only print a limited quantity before the design is allowed a dignified retirement! The T-shirts we print on are high quality with a great cut and won’t be found irresponsibly stretching or fading. D.O.D use high quality fabric paint to ensure the images can handle being worn, washed and thrashed. They may fade in their old age but don’t hold that against them, they will still serve you with style. Daughters Of Doom – We don’t aim to please the masses – just the odd few.

“What the Feck is Glitoris? It is really quite simple, Glitoris exists to help create fun.

We do this through glitter.

Yep. That awesome stuff that is tiny, sparkles and gets everywhere? We use it to create art. We specialise in body art and Avant-garde makeup. AKA looks that make you feel and look like a superstar.

Our founders (Ali and Grace) consider glitter our religion, we live, breathe, think and eat it. (Trust us, we poo glitter for days after a good festival). Together we have worked, volunteered and partied at hundreds of festivals. We know that there is a secret ingredient in your recently-hair-dried-peanut-butter, that twerk shops are very 2015.

We also know (and excuse us for getting a bit spiritual) the best festivals have a special kind of something. A magic that is created by people, coming together to celebrate, party and be fricken fabulous. This is starting to sounds a bit wanky, and we acknowledge that we are not solving global warming through glitter. But our point is, we love it. We love making people feel fabulous. We love to party. And we would love to do it at your festival, house party, street parade, gig, bahmitzfa or gallery opening. #getGlitotris”
