Tell us a little about the origins of Tweetstore.
After a trip to Japan I came back with piles of origami paper, stickers, and other random but cute goodies. I was so excited by all the patterns and colours and couldn’t wait to start creating! I made a few gift tags and little envelopes and Mum made some cards. We were so happy with them and enjoyed making them and being surrounded with the paper and glitter that I decided to start selling them.
Describe your creative process.
Every now and then calls for a big tweet session- time to restock supplies! I lay out a big red tablecloth on our large dining room table, lay out stacks of paper and washi tape, glitter and twine. Make a cup of tea and put out a few pink bikkies and get making! Mum and I chat for ages and get in to the grove of hole punching and string tying. It’s quite relaxing.
What inspires you the most?
I love looking through cute magazines and am obsessed with anything Japanese! Inspiration comes from everywhere and I am always pining bits and bobs on my pin board from photos to a cool business card, and adding to my collection of Japanese food rubbers!
Name some of your favourite local artists and designers.
I love the work of David Booth (Ghostpatrol) and Cat rabbit and am always finding inspiration from artists and designers featured through the pages of Frankie magazine.
What are your ultimate dreams for Tweetstore?
I think just to continue making as long as it makes me happy.
Oh and I may be saving my earnings for a trip to Sweden!
